Community Guidelines
Version 2026-08-13 · Effective 13 August 2026
Alongo exists for one thing: genuine, respectful, platonic companionship — coffee, meals, events, tours, and good conversation. These Guidelines keep everyone safe and keep Alongo lawful. They apply to every user (Explorers and Companions), form part of our Terms of Service and Safety & Booking Policy, and are enforced. Breaking them can lead to warnings, content removal, suspension, or a permanent ban — and, where the law requires or permits it, a report to the authorities.
1. The deal, in one line
You’re booking someone’s time for a shared, public, non-sexual activity. If a request would be inappropriate to make of a new acquaintance in a café, it doesn’t belong on Alongo.
2. Zero tolerance — instant, permanent ban
These result in immediate removal and, where required by law, a report to the authorities:
- Sexual or escort services — soliciting, offering, arranging, or hinting at sexual, intimate, or physical services, in any form or wording, on or off the platform.
- Anything involving minors — Alongo is strictly 18+. Any child sexual abuse or exploitation (CSAE/CSAM), grooming, or sexualisation of minors is reported to the relevant authorities and cyber-tip lines. No exceptions.
- Human trafficking, coercion, or exploitation of any kind.
- Non-consensual acts, sexual assault, or sharing intimate images without consent.
- Violence, weapons, or credible threats of harm.
- Illegal drugs or arranging any unlawful activity through the platform.
3. No sexual solicitation — including coded offers
Beyond the obvious, the following are prohibited and will be removed:
- sexualised profile descriptions, photos, or usernames;
- erotic or “escort”-style advertising, rate cards for intimacy, or “extra services”;
- requests for sexual photographs or video;
- sexual bargaining, tips-for-intimacy, or “what do you offer beyond conversation?”;
- coded or euphemistic sexual offers intended to evade these rules.
4. No financial exploitation
Alongo serves a broad community, including older and potentially vulnerable adults. Using the Platform or a relationship formed on it to obtain money or advantage is strictly prohibited:
- asking another user for loans, gifts, donations, “help”, or repeated favours;
- investment, crypto, trading, or “opportunity” schemes;
- begging, guilt-tripping, or emotional manipulation for money;
- blackmail, extortion, or threats to obtain money or anything of value;
- lending or borrowing money between users.
5. No romance scams or manipulation
Do not misrepresent who you are, feign romance or crisis for money, or move someone off-platform to pressure them. If someone asks you for money, Report them and don’t pay.
6. No stalking or unwanted contact
- Don’t repeatedly contact someone after they’ve declined, ended a chat, or blocked you.
- Don’t follow, wait for, or “show up” for someone outside an agreed booking.
- Don’t try to discover someone’s home, workplace, routine, or real identity beyond what they’ve shared.
- Don’t create new accounts to reach someone who blocked you, or ask others to contact them for you.
7. Location & privacy
- Never use location information to identify, track, follow, monitor, or visit another user outside an agreed booking.
- Never reveal or ask for a Companion’s home address. Companions appear on the map at an approximate area, never an exact address.
- Don’t share other people’s personal information, or screenshots of private chats, without consent.
8. Booking safety & boundaries
- Meet in public places and keep to the agreed activity, time and location.
- A booking does not give either person the right to enter the other’s home, hotel room, vehicle, workplace, or any private property.
- Don’t change the agreed location to a private or unsafe place without the other person’s clear consent.
- “No” means no — respect boundaries and consent at all times. See the full Safety & Booking Policy.
9. Transportation
- Users arrange their own transport. Don’t require or pressure anyone to travel in a particular vehicle or with you.
- Alongo does not provide or arrange transportation as part of a booking unless a lawful transport arrangement is expressly part of the activity.
10. Events, venues & third parties
- Follow the rules of venues, organisers, transport operators, hotels and other third parties.
- Alongo doesn’t guarantee admission, tickets, availability, weather, or third-party services unless expressly stated.
11. No substances or regulated “professional” services
- Don’t use Alongo to arrange illegal drug use or unlawful substance-related activity, or to book someone to accompany such activity.
- Don’t offer regulated professional services (medical, legal, financial, therapeutic, etc.) through Alongo; it’s a companionship marketplace, not a professional-advice service.
12. Be authentic
- Use your real identity and recent, genuine photos of yourself. No impersonation, fake profiles, or stolen/AI images of other people.
- You must be 18 or older. We may ask for verification at any time.
- Companions: describe your activities and rates honestly. No misleading claims.
- One person, one account. No selling, sharing, or transferring accounts.
13. Keep it on the platform
- Chat, agree plans, and pay inside the app — this is how we keep you safe and your money protected.
- Don’t move conversations or bookings off-platform to evade these Guidelines or to dodge the platform booking fee.
14. Money & bookings
- The platform booking fee runs through Alongo. The companion’s own rate is paid directly to them when you meet — don’t arrange bookings off-platform to dodge the booking fee or our safeguards.
- No fraud, chargeback abuse, fee-dodging, or manipulating ratings and reviews.
- Cancellations and refunds follow the Cancellation & Refund Policy.
15. Photos & content
- No nudity, sexual, or suggestive content. All photos are automatically screened and reviewed before going live.
- Only upload images you have the right to use — of yourself. No other people’s photos.
16. How we enforce
We act on reports and, for profiles and photos, our own automated screening. Because chats are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot read message content and act on messages only when you report them. Depending on severity and history we may remove content, warn, limit features, suspend, or permanently ban. Zero-tolerance violations (Section 2) skip the ladder and result in an immediate permanent ban. We may preserve and share information with law enforcement where the law requires or permits it, or where reasonably necessary to prevent serious harm.
17. Reporting, appeals & support
See something unsafe or against these Guidelines? Use Report or Block on any profile, chat, or booking, or reach us via Contact & Grievance. We acknowledge grievances within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days. If you believe an action was a mistake, you can appeal; decisions on zero-tolerance and safety matters are generally final. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services first.
18. Changes
We may update these Guidelines as Alongo and the law evolve. Material changes will be notified, and continued use means you accept the current version. Questions? Contact us.
